India Needs To Act
India is one of the fast developing countries in the world in all aspects of life. But, India finds herself in a very weird and worried position when the statistical analysis was done on child mortality rates. The pace with which India progressed in reducing the child mortality rates over a year or so is not so encouraging; in fact worthy enough to discourage everyone.
The United Nations conducted a survey last year on child mortality rates and the reports will definitely send a fear down the spine of Indian officials as it proved to be the worst results for India. Around 9.7 million children, less than five years of age, have died last year due to mortality issues and 2 million of 9.7 million have passed away from the Indian sub continent. The United Nations officials reinstated that all countries including India, were very much successful in pulling down the death rates due to child mortality in the last 12 to 15 years or so. Even then, comparisons between the achievements of different countries would certainly discourage India as India happened to be the country with least rate with which mortality has been reduced. Considering all aspects of Indian social life and infrastructure, the rate of declination of two and half percent on a yearly basis, is never par for the cause.

The investigation behind this burning issue in India have partially ended up in bringing one of the strong reasons behind alarming death rates of children. It is nothing but, malnutrition which causes more than fifty percent of infant deaths in India. Malnutrition is a state of body when the body does not receive sufficient food. Proteins, calories, iron and other necessary nutrients are very much essential for overall development of health and body. Proteins are a critical component in the development of muscles and calories are very much essential for the body to receive energy. When the body lacks energy from food, it will start losing weight and especially in children, the aftermaths of this will be very much detrimental.
Children in developing countries are often more affected with this serious malnutrition issue and it throws light to several other factors surrounding developing or under developed countries. Children with malnutrition are likely to have large abdomen and weakened muscles which will very well convey the malnutrition impact on children. They will have difficulty to move around and their muscles would be too weak. Another critical aspect is that the children with malnutrition problems will easily get affected by several diseases just because the body immunity would be too low to resist diseases. Their bodies can't resist the attack of viruses or any undesirable body behavior and they easily fall as the victim of different other diseases as well.
India is under this serious threat and long term planning to eradicate malnutrition is absolutely critical to decrease the pace of child mortality, because in India, the unacceptably high level of malnutrition is directly proportional to child mortality. It is high time to act and high time to rescue the bright stars of tomorrow.
